Received Invisalign consultation today

#1 Post by micro420 »

I had my consultation for Invisalign today and they said that everything looks good to go. Now it'll cost me $6,500. My sister is upset because she says that it's WAY too much. Just wondering if any of you folks paid close to this amount? This would be for both upper and bottom teeths. I am located in the Bay Area

I'm in ther Washington DC area and paid $4500 for 40 uppers and lowers. This was also over 2 years ago, so prices may have gone up some. Being in CA, $6500 doesn't suprise me.

I originally had an invisalign consultation and was told it would be about $6,000 (that's in the Washington DC area).

Don't know how long it would have taken because he didn't recommend it for my treatment...I just asked the $$ because I wanted to compare the cost of ALL treatments...traditional metal, ceramic, invisalign, Damons...

that isnt abnormally high.

DOnt forget that the lab bill aloine for invisalign is $2000. THat fee needs to be passed on to the pt.

Also the impressions cost more and a lot of other "extra's"

that fee is not out of line

I seriously wonder if she's jealous. She says that I should get metallic braces and NOT pay more than $2,000 for them. That seems kind of SUPER cheap for braces, doesn't it???

Yeah I think as Dr Rick said $2000 would cover invisalign lab costs alone. Then you have X-rays, molds, visits every 4-6 weeks (check up and sometimes filing) and any possible treatment refinements that may be required during or after treatment. I was charged $4500 for my invisalign (48U and 21L) but also had a ton of additional work done which is why I think my dentist took it easy with the price. $6500 certainly seems fair as long as dentist will do what it takes to complete your treatment successfully. I have heard of some orthos charging as low as $3500 but will only go as far as invisalign will take them (sometimes not all the way) in treatment. Then I have seen the other end of the field where orthos are charging $8000+ but will do what it takes to straighten your teeth which can include traditional braces after invisalign. Find out what they include with treatment and if you have time try to get a couple of quotes from other reputable orthos or dentists. I think really the upmost important thing for all of us archwirers to remember is to do our best to find a dentist/ortho that you really trust. Believe me, this will alleviate a lot of worrying. Sometimes to acheive this we need to talk to family/friends/coworkers about who they are using and what do they think....but be careful 90% of people will try to tell you they have the worlds finest doctor/dentist! :)
Good luck

I'm getting my braces in the Bay Area next month, and mine are only gonna cost $1000, retainer included. I'm having metal uppers and lowers, rubber bands, and possibly other treatment. It depends on your insurance, though, because mine were gonna cost $4900. Good luck!

you are getting upper and lower braces and a retainer for $1000 total tx cost (not just your out pocket). What about the records are those included, the office visits, etc.

That is below cost. I would be quite wary of that.
dont forget you get to pick 2 out of 3-- cost, quality, convienience.

Something has to suffer especially if $1000 is the TOTAL fee. I suspect it isnt.

It's that cheap because both my parents have separate insurance. My sister's and my friends braces from there were great, and their teeth turned out perfect! My sister's was 1.500. The ortho is wonderful, the office is really nice, and the staff are excellent. He's known as one of the best orthos's where I live. I guess it also depends on where you live.

Hello

#12 Post by harvardboi »

Hello all. I am on day six with my aligners. I am in the DC area and had my initial consultation and molds done on May 12, received my aligners June 17. I go back for a follow-up in ten weeks. I have 19 top and 14 bottom. It cost me 4600 and included retainers and two years of follow-up visits once the treatment is complete. If I need braces at the end, it will be an additional 1200.

I must admit it has been easier then what I expected. Particularlly after all the stuff I have read here. We will see how things progress. The worst part has been getting used to a mouth of plastic and not spitting when I talk. Seems to produce extra saliva.

I read that the national average for Invisalign is $5000.

thats what I was gettin $1000 wasnt the true fee. The true fee is $1000 plus the money from the 2 insurance companies. So what was your TOTAL fee?

Oh, I see what you're saying. The total fee was $4800, but I pay $1000 out of pocket.

Meryaten wrote:$4800 less $1000 - that's $3800 from your insurance - WOW  That's some pretty darn good insurance! Mine will ony pony up 50% to a max of $1500. I know you said it was double insurance, but even still, that's good!
That is very great insurance. My parents both work as doctors, and they have this special plan that gives them excellent insurance. Still, $1500 is good! At least you get money off! :D
