Treatment times and refinements

I have just had my assessment results and need 15U and 26L. As I will finish the upper trays before the lower ones, is it possible to proceed to refinements on the upper arch before I am done with all 26 lower trays? I have said to my ortho that I am not that fussed about the lower teeth being perfect - the upper ones are the priority. If I can get on with upper refinements straight after tray 15, it seems to me that that would decrease my treatment time. All thoughts / experience appreciated!

The problem with going to refinement in one arch and not in the other is that you may be "using up" one of the refinements that may be a part of your treatment fee. Align Technology doesn't distinguish between impressions sent in for one arch or for two.

You would be better off taking impressions of both the upper and lower teeth at this time for mid-course correction to ensure that both arches can become perfected at the same time.

Again, all of these above scenarios will depend on the individual contract you have with your orthodontist.
