Just had anchors put on my teeth - made one tooth sensitive

#1 Post by bham813 »

I wanted to see if anyone else has had this experience with Invisalign. I just had my anchors put on yesterday and I notice that is has made one of my teeth that has an anchor (on the bottom left) quite sensitive. It is very noticeable when I try to remove the botton tray. If I touch that tooth when removing the tray I get quite a jolt of sensitivity - very annoying and believe me, it doesn't tickle! Has anyone else had this to happen to them when the anchors are attached?

The attachments alone should not cause this type of sensitivity.

Here are some possibilities:

-you had existing gum recession, leading to exposure of the root of the tooth. This can be extremely sensitive and may have been exacerbated by the addition of the attachments.
-you have some sort of cavity on the tooth that has developed/was present previously and is now becoming sensitive.
-not likely, but some enamel could have been removed during reshaping of your attachments.
-tooth movement has caused this tooth to be in hyperocclusion, leading to inflammation around the ligament of the tooth.

Definitely let your doctor know about your concern.

While waiting for you doctor to address your concern, try to brush with Sensodyne toothpaste and put a dab of it directly on that tooth & its gum line to reduce its sensitivity. It helps especially if you have gum recession.

I dont really know much and i have only just had mine put on as well, but i've had sensitivity from two teeth- one top, one bottom- bottom one has a button on it but not top, i was thinking its coz my teeth are moving since only one of them had a button.
Maybe its the same for you, has it gone away yet or still around? :D
