Has anyone achieved successful closure of posterior open bite caused by Invisalign?

#1 Post by ywetka »

I heard it's quite common and currently also my case... I'm on tray 5 of 16 and there's already an open contact between left molars. Has anyone been in such situation and had it successfuly corrected? If so, how and how long has it taken? I'm scared, I won't lie :( Thank you for your help!

This may ease your nerves a little...I definitely had the typical Invisalign posterior open bite all through my treatment, and I was worried about it too. Within 2 or 3 days of switching to nighttime retainer wear only, it was gone. :) Honestly, I have a feeling that doing something to actively correct the open bite might have been counterproductive, since my teeth were very quick to settle naturally into the correct position.

Thank you sevenn, it really is calming to hear success stories such as yours :D I'm looking forward to it! But gee I can't chew, I eat like some old lady with no teeth - surprisingly there are lots of options, I'll probably write some Cookbook for Invisalign patients with posterior open bite, it's gonna be a hit!
