Hi,
I know that extracting to create space can cause the teeth to move back and affect the shape of your face. Since IPR is essentially the same thing, just shaving a little off of multiple teeth to create space, can this cause the same issue? I have crowding on my bottom arch so the Ortho suggested IPR. But I have a receding chin and overbite so I don't want it to get worse.
Can IPR affect facial shape and profile?

Re: Can IPR affect facial shape and profile?
I don't think IPR would affect face shape, because it's only filing of your enamel so there is no bone loss like when someone gets a tooth extracted. I know that sometimes when people get teeth extracted the bone loss from the gum can change their face shape a little because I guess it is a bit of structure that is being removed. IPR doesn't affect anything in the roots of the teeth so all it should do is make a little more space for teeth to move together nicely
