Cost, Length of Treatment

I had traditional braces as a teenager and there are now spaces between my teeth. I went to an Orthodontist and he quoted me $4950 for orthoclear. I got the feeling that he upped the price due to knowing that my insurance was going to pay for $2000 of this. Plus on the form I filled out, i listed my profession as an Engineer. Does this price of $4950 sound high to anyone? I realize that it is only going to cost me $2950 out of my pocket, but If I can save $500 by shopping around, I may.

Also. My orthodontist said it will take approximately 1.5 years with 3 weeks between aligners. I have read that it was only 14 days between aligners...why is this information not consistant? I realize that not every case is the same, but my teeth look fine, I just have a small space between a few teeth.

Sounds like you should take the time to see some other orthodontists and find out what they suggest. Maybe you could just ask what sort of braces would be best for you rather than say "can I do Invisalign" ? From what I've read on these message boards, the traditional braces work a bit faster than Invisalign. I hope this message isn't too late - you really should talk to a few doctors. Also find someone whom you feel good about personally. The price really is secondary unless you are on a VERY tight budget - the right treatment and orthodontist are much more important.
Good luck! Straight beautiful teeth are worth it!

1.5 years at 3 weeks per tray sounds like my case.

Although I paid $6500.00. Higher than yours

My trays are:
23 trays = 69 weeks upper
17 trays=51 weeks
Which equals= Around 1.5 yrs

I only have one more tray left on my uppers and very happy with my results! Well worth the money!!

BTW- My insurance didnt cover Invisalign back when I got them on.. so I am a cash patient at $6500.00

Now my (new) insurance pays for partial and I cant apply it... too late.

Ohh well - $6500.00 is still worth it.

I only had minor crowding which was considered "Express Invisalign"
and it was only my bottom teeth. I will be done by New Years!!!
It only took 4 months for me and only cost $700!!!!. I live in Long Island, NY if anyone wants a reccomendation. Only downside, is after the treatment is done, my dentist says I should wear the aligner while I am sleeping forever so they don't shift again :(
