Hi. This is my first post. Hopefully someone can answer my questions. I had a pendulum appliance put in almost two months ago. I have to go back to the ortho. in a week. He told me originally it would be in from 6-9 months to move my top teeth back to correct an overbite. Has anyone had one of these? How long did it take for you? I hate it!!!! Thanks alice

Hi there! I just got my pendulum applance taken off after the New Year. I was originally told that I'd wear it for 4 months, but it ended up being 10 months. I've been in a retainer since then and I'm due to get my first set of trays tomorrow.

I hated wearing that appliance too because of the food that would get stuck in it. It was difficult to eat bread, salad and anything "stringy" because it would wrap around the circle spring thingy. How annoying!

hey guys, I am new to the board. :D I too have to get this appliance put in in 2 weeks. :( I am a bit nervous because I've heard some call this thing a torture device. They told me 6 months...I hope it's not more than that...it really stinks that I can't jump straight into treatment...but I guess in the end it will all be worth it...I think I have to have this thing on top and bottom...just wondering...besides it being an annoyance, does it interfere with your speech? What can I expect over the next months with this device in me?? Can people see that you are wearing it...I'm almost thinking on switching to linguals so I don't have to have this thing in for so long...

Hey bluesky, did you ever get your pendulum? They aren't so bad, except as the above poster mentioned... eating stringy foods! Also, I guess I still have trouble with so many words!

Hi Kat, how is your progress coming along?

Well, with me it didn't work out. It was really uncomfortable but that I guess I could deal with...it was more that I couln't be understood. I can barely speak a sentence and it didn't get better! Maybe my case was different because I had to have top and bottom and I have such a small mouth as it is. Anyway, they wound up placing 2 metal bands, one on my top and bottom molar to straighten them upward. I got my impressions for my invisalign last week! So they are going to start me on the invisalign except for the where my molars are. Once my molars straighten they will remove the bands and fit the invisalign on all my teeth. I hope this works, but I am so glad I can get started already! Not sure how long it takes for the invisalign to be made but I will keep you posted once it comes in!

hey there! Sorry to hear that didn't work out - but i can't imagine having it on the top and bottom. I can barely handle it on top! The end is in sight for me. I've got damon 3s on my bottom teeth a few weeks ago - they are clear and i love them. Very comfortable compared to this appliance. And some good news, I'm getting my pendulum off early near the end of May! I can't wait because it's so hard to chew right now with all that space they created.

Congrats on the invisalign.... i hope that works out for you! I know how you feel with just wanting to get it all started already... let me know how you are liking it once you get the invisalign!
