What do I do? NOT happy

#1 Post by pearlie »

My invisalign just came in. I went to the ortho and he showed me the clincheck. 12 buttons/speedbumps!! my 6 front upper teeth all have speedbumps. I wish he would have told me sooner. (actually I never even saw him..the assistant did everything). SHe glued them on and although they felt weird, they did not look that bad. She told me not to put my first aligner in until night time. I did this last night. THe speedbumps are SO visible. The aligners would look good without the bumps. I especially dont like the two on my front top two teeth! I spent 6000 and am NOT happy. What do i do? should I ask my dentist if we can do this without the two on my front two teeth?? I know they already made all the aligners but noone told me I'd have bumps on my front two teeth. All the attachments are not bad and I can live with most of them. are orthos willing to remake aligners just cause I'm not pleased? help.

Hate to say it but probably not. You can always approach the subject with him and see what he says, never hurts to ask. Unfortunitly orthos don't realize that those speedbumps are a big deal to us. I truly believe that since they are not bothered by them, they think we are not either. On the brite side though the speedbumps become next to invisable after a few days in a new aligner.

how will they be 'next to invisible' in a few days if they're not now. the light hits them and the reflection makes them stark white! they should have made a smoother transition into the bumps.

When I would first put a new aligner in it seemed the bumps were more noticeable cause the bump didn't fit in the bump area perfectly (if that makes any sense) after a few days the aligner would fit better and the bumps would fit perfectly where they were supposed to be and they were less noticeable. Also I remember that after a week or so the bumps weren't so new (i.e. white) looking and they blended in with the other teeth much better.

One important thing to mention is that although we think they are totally obvious a lot of other people will never even notice we have those bumps!
