I'm new to the board. I've been reading this site and must say heard both comforting stories as well as scary ones. I am 24 and been needing braces as long as I can remember. I had my 3rd appt last week and was happy to find out I can get invisalign (initially other orthos told me this wouldn't be an option). I was going for the linguals but the Dr. talked me out of it. He said this would be a much more comfortable procedure. The only bad thing is before I can get the invisalign I need to have...I believe it was called a pendulum appliance first. This really stinks because I need to have this for 6 mnths b4 I can even start treatment. My Dr says I have TMD & this will fix my overbite realigning my jaw and straighten my molar to an upright position (w/out having to have any extractions, again I've been told b4 that I would need 4 extrations). I must say this was a turnoff and I almost wanted to go into linguals cause I wouldn't need this contraption put in me. I read some other posts on the board saying this device is very annoying and painful and you have trouble talking.
Anyone have any experience like this? Do you get problems with your speech using this pendulum, and can people see you have it on? Also, what is the invisalign treatment like...does no one really notice you have it on?? It seems very convenient and a lot less painfull then the linguals...
Thanks so much you guys in advance!
