Hi Nanny
If I were you I would definetely file them down RIGHT NOW!!! I remember how much my first 3 sets hurt my tongue!!!! I filed those down and it helped alot. It was terrible having to go to work and not being able to talk at all because my tongue was hurting so bad. I guess my tounge's just used to them now. It's a really big help though!

Hi Nanny,
I agree, get that file out a.s.a.p. and create some relief. Give yourself about 2 to 3 days, and your tongue will have healed and adjusted. Your next tray may bother your tongue once again .. file that one where necessary too. After about the 3rd tray, your tongue will probably be totally happy, and you won't have to file too much again, if at all. In the meantime, don't forget to rinse your mouth with warm saltwater .. it's great for healing those mouth sores.

Thanks for your reply.
By the way, the little pain on my teeth makes me happy, because I know that the process is starting right now. But at this moment it is really horrible to put the aligners out What a pain! I hope this will be a little bit better in a few days ....The good thing is, that I will loss weight
Do you take only a glas of warm water and put in a little bit salt? How much salt do you take? I think I can do this with my aligners in my mouth without any problems?tulip wrote:.... don't forget to rinse your mouth with warm saltwater .. it's great for healing those mouth sores ....

Hi Nanny,
I use about a teaspoon at most, and dissolve in about 1/2 a glass warm water. Gargle with it and swish it around in your mouth a few times a day. If you look around this forum (other threads though) look for kk, as she is the expert on salt water rinses!!!!
And yes, the pain on taking the trays out is only for the first couple days for each new tray. As you progress through the different trays, you will feel a different tooth in "pain" as the treatment focusses on that tooth (teeth).
I am on tray 12 out of 21 now, and my friends are all commenting very favourably. I've only had good experiences with my treatment so far, and am very happy I went this route.

Hi there,
my tounge doesn´t hurt any more Yesterday I didn´t talk as much as the day before, maybe this is why it is going on better today.
I will try this salt water thing. Did you do that although with your aligners in your mouth? Because the last few days I only put them out only twice a day.
I have now a few problems on my uppers with the flesh surrounding the teeth. When I put out the upper aligner yesterday evening it hurts (not the teeth!) and when I looked arround I saw that it was really red there. That makes me a little bit nervous Hopefully this will be better in a few days. Did someone have this problem, too?

Great to hear your tongue is settling down .. and yes, a lot of talking with a new tray at the beginning of treatment will do that to you!!
As for salt water... no, I had the trays out while rinsing.
Wow, if you're only taking your trays out twice a day, you must be starving!!! Mine are in and out quite a few times a day now.
And finally, about the gum ... my current tray which I started on Thursday was pressing on my gum (inside mouth behind top right front tooth), so out came the file, and I filed that down till it was comfortable again. I can never figure out how they are trimming these trays in the "factory", as one tray will fit so beautifully, and then the next will have a rough edge, or some excess plastic where it does not need to be.... and the teeth have not moved that much in between???
