red and painful gingiva

Hello,

I have invisalign for nearly one week. The first days I had some pain on my tongue. On the second day I recognized, that also my gingival was red and very (!) painful (I wasn’t able to clean my teeth without pain), but only upper/left . I read about the warm salt water rinses and it helped me really! There is no more pain on my tongue, even now my gingival is red and a little bit painful if I touch it. And it drawed back a little bit  .

What should I do? Is that normal? The tray doesn´t touch the gingival where it is red and painful! Why is it so painful/red :?: ? After the warm salt water rinses it is much better now, but the last 2-3 days it is no more getting better.
I am a little bit in panic now because of this isn’t going to get better the last 2-3 days. I can already hear my dentist :gavel: shouting about Invisalign (she didn´t like/understand my idea of straitening my teeth). Maybe I am impatiently….

:-} I am cleaning my teeth after every meal (2-4 per day)
:-} I am rinsing with warm salt water after cleaning my teeth (2-3 per day)
:-} I am using floss (2 per day)

Had someone the same problem? What should I do?
...I am a little bit in panic now :yikes: and I am not sure if this is OK and if I should only rinses with warm salt water to solve this problem...

I am not sure if I should contact my ortho. Anyway, my ortho is on holidays this week  therefore I will wait untill next week. But maybe (hopefully) someone has a solution for me....

For sure I will take some pictures of these elastics. I don´t want to think about them yet  The elastics won´t be funny I think

Hi Nanny,

This has happened to me a couple times, sometimes worse than others and it is usually gone after a few days (Im a big fan of Listerine and the salt water rinses do help as well). I think my problem was that I was brushing so often and way too hard that I was irritating my gums. Maybe try not to brush and floss too hard for a few days and see if that helps??

I do think its a very good idea to still try to get in touch with your ortho (is there an ortho on call why he's away?) or even the dentist just to be sure its not an infection, if it is you'll want to catch it before it get too bad. :?

We are all spending a lot of money to get this ortho work done so I think a few phone inquires here and there should not a problem with any ortho.

Good luck and get well soon!
