wisdom teeth extraction during treatment

I talked to my orthodontist and he said that I should get my wisdom teeth taken out because, in his words, it would be a waste of money to get my teeth straightened only to have my wisdom teeth mess them up again. My ortho said that I didn't have to extract my wisdom teeth right now, but I should eventually. He said I could even do it during treatment. Does anyone have any experience with getting their wisdom teeth taken out during treatment? If during treatment is not a great idea, I may just wait after my invisalign treatment and get them extracted then.

Interesting - my dentist would not even consider talking to me about Invisalign until after my wisdom teeth were taken out and all my fillings were done. In retrospect, I think she was right on even if I had to wait longer (to get the most out of my annual insurance benefit).

I just talked to my orthodontist and he said that it's probably a good idea not to wait until after treatment. I did tell him that I'm in my 3rd year of law school and I'll be taking the bar this July--so now is not a good time. He then said that I should take them out after taking the bar in July in case he needs to take advantage of the extra space my wisdom teeth will take up.
