Treatment cost

#1 Post by bluesky11197 »

Ok, I am getting just a bit concerned seeing that my cost of treatment of $9250 seems to be a light higher than most. Here is what the price includes: 2 yrs of Invisalign trays, 2 yrs of clear retainers after treatment. I also had a sagital appliance custom made because the dr. wanted to correct my overbite and TMJ symptoms but had to go another route b/c I was not able to deal w/it. I basically had this contraption in my mouth top and bottom that was supposed to be for 6 mos. Let's just say besides being extremely annoying I could barely communicate. Anway, as an alternative they placed 2 molar bands w/elastics to help straighten my tipped molars. So that is whay my treatment entails. Any thoughts of if what I am paying is way too much??

Hi bluesky11197,

There certainly does seem to be quite a range of what everyone is paying for their treatment and it also seems to vary based on where you are located, whats included during and after ect... I paid about $5,000.00 for my treatment which includes 55 uppers (yup 55  ), 12 lowers and retainers afterwards (havent decided which I want kind I want to go with yet). That price also included all xrays molds ect... in the beginning and 2 refinements if needed. If I need regular braces after the fact (fingers crosses that i don't) that will be an additional cost out of pocket for me as I do not have insurance. For some folks, braces after the fact are included if they are needed which I think is great, but I couldnt find anyone who would do it.

I'd say your cost seems a bit on the high side but again it may just have to do with where are, your ortho, and the other "extras" used in your treatment. I would not worry too much aobut it though, whats done (and paid for) is done and if the end result is a pretty healthier smile than I think that may be worth any amount of money.

If anything think of it as extra incentive to wear those retainers as directed 100% of the time for as long as need be!!!

Thanx waiting2smile for your reply :) ...I'm not sure how many uppers and lowers I will but I'm probably needing more than 55 as well as about the same for the lower, I guess I'll find that out when I go back in a couple wks to get my invisalign. If I have invisalign for 2 yrs and they change the trays every 2 wks that seems to add up to a whole lotta trays :? I'm in PA by the way, my price did include the total cost, including xrays, molds and all that too but your right it might be a little on the high side. I guess in the end it will all be worth it. This is something I've wanted to get done since I was a child and now I am almost 25 so I am really looking foward to the end result!

I am presently paying $7 000CAD for an 18-month treatment (18 Lower and 30 Upper) and 6 months of retainers...

But I agree, it probably depends on where you live, the types of dental problems you may have and respective ''maintenance'' treatments...
