Fun new ways to eat..

#1 Post by teisha »

Well just thought i'd start a new topic about the fun new ways to eat with invisalign. Im on trays 13 of 15 upper 22 lower. My two front teeth were the crooked ones on top.. and my four front bottoms are bad also. My tops are almost done (i love them.. honestly.. there like my babies... ) but since they moved everytime i eat something its like a whole new experience. I have to relearn to eat everything. Anything involving no forks ie sandwhiches.. oh trouble.
So I guess my question is does anyone else have any problems adapting to food with your new bite? And at the end of treatment do you get used to this bite? Everytime I eat im so conscious of where my teeth are hitting.

I haven't really needed to change or think about the way that I chew, if that is what you are asking. I haven't had any teeth hitting abnormally, yet. Even though my back teeth do not touch, my front teeth are not hitting weird that I have noticed.

Diehard - my bite was perfect on my left side before I started treatment and nearly perfect on my right side (there were one or two teeth that were slightly off of the "gear-like" fit as my ortho called it).

I've noticed a difference too. Actually, if I am not careful and don't pay attention, I bit my tongue.

the tongue biting is the worst...
when i am really hungry..and am not thinking (i have always been a quick eater..and by quick..i mean ridiculously fast) so when i dont stop to think about the new placement of my teeth..my poor tongue gets chomped on..

however.. with my bottoms starting to shift into their new places my bite is becoming more like it has.. which I must say is great, because I was getting worried.

Tomorrow I get my last set of trays for my tops! HORRAY!!! they look great, everyone keeps saying how straight they are.. only problem is I have to wear this tray for 2-3 months until my bottoms are done.. yuck.... lol

It goes by pretty fast.. relatively speaking. Eventually you just kind of forget your in treatment. It becomes such a routine that now getting work done on teeth or having to brush my teeth all the time is just like washing my hair:)

The only thing I've ever hated about them is the IPR, because of the way my teeth are, they meet and are crooked so close to the gum that it causes a lot of pain. But I had my last IPR yesterday!!! WOOHOO. And most people who get IPR don't seem to mind it so dont worry. Its just my bad luck of having a really small mouth and really bad placement.

I hope the last few months of treatment are as good as the first 8. And I hope yours goes as well as mine has. Goodluck! keep us updated!
