I am concerned that I didn't do enough research and chose the wrong dentist. She doesn't seem to have much experience with invisalign and hasn't been very helpful about letting me know what to expect. I was wondering if anyone knows how long will it take to find out if my impressions need to be re-done? I had them done 4 weeks ago and haven't heard anything yet. The reason I'm so concerned about this is because it was severely painful to have them done the first time and my sister had hers taken 3 times!
My dentist will be leaving on maternity leave in 3 weeks (something she neglected to tell me before I began the process). Is it likely that I won't have my aligners by that time?
Thanks!
What's the timeline?

my ortho did a set, looked at them and knew right away that they didn't turn out right. so, we did them again and that time they were perfect. you're right, it does sound like your dentist doesn't have much experience with invisalign. also, my impression didn't hurt one bit. just kind of uncomfortable sitting there for 5 minutes with that gunk in your mouth.
invisalign patient since feb 2007
upper trays: 25.
lower trays: 11+5 refinements.
now: bonded wires+upper essix.

my impressions hurt a lot too. I have really small mouth, tho, so they had to grind down the trays to fit!
I had to have the lowers done twice. It took about 2 weeks for them to call be back in for the second impression.
After that, it was another 2 weeks and I had my trays.
I would call the dentist if I were you. I woulnd't think it should take so long.

Thanks for the response orangeena. My mouth is very small too, however they did not grind down the trays and that is probably why it hurt so badly.
I also called my dentist. Turns out Invisalign never received my pictures and another form. Instead of checking with my dentist, they put my case on hold
. Looks like I'll be waiting another month. This is very frustrating!
