my dentist (not my ortho) said to be careful to keep the aligners in a container when they weren't in my mouth because pets love to chew them up. I have two cats and they haven't any interest in the aligners at all. I'm pretty careless about stashing them while I eat. Anybody have any pet disasters? Or lost aligner stories? Those suckers are hard to see when you drop them.

I left my top aligner on a napkin at a restaurant once, and the waiter took it and threw it away. He ended up finding it after an hour (I was freaking out the whole time), but seriously, save yourself the stress. Keep them in a case.

The only thing I am concerned about is that my cat will drink the water in the container that the aligners soak in, I will not notice, and then will be in a hurry and will just put the aligners back in without brushing them off. That is pretty gross to think about! I am not concerned that she will steal and chew them, though.

She has a fetish with drinking water out of everything other than her own water dish (humidifier, off the sides of wet containers, bathtub spout, our cups, ice cubes put in the sink, etc.). And, also loves jumping up on bathroom vanities to knock things off into the trash can, onto the floor, or down the sinks.

One person I know put his aligners in his back pocket and sat on them and broke them! The easiest way to lose them is to throw them out with the trash.
