Has anyone ever finished with their initial trays and want to comment? How is the maintenance wearing of their trays at night? Just want to know. :?: [/b]

TT - I've been wearing my Invisalign brand Retainers since the end of April without any problems at all. For the first 3 months I wore them pretty much round the clock & since then for 12 hrs/day (overnight & up until lunch).

I'll cut back to just wearing them while sleeping (which is more like 7-8 hrs) after about a year, I think. So far the 12 hours doesn't bother me or interfere with my lifestyle.

Details on my experience are on my blog:

Invisalign was the best thing I ever did for myself (& my :D )

Anne I love your blog! Wow, your teeth look awesome.

My ortho is planning on giving me a fixed retainer on the bottom, and a regular retainer with wire in front (Hawley?) that he says I'll only need to wear at night. I'm kind of concerned though about that becaues it seems like everyone else gets the invisalign retainer. However I have to wear my top tray 18 full time through eight more sets of aligners while the bottoms finish, so maybe that's why.

Anne, you are the poster-child for invisalign!

I've not seen such clear results on anyone with invisalign!

Everyone I know who have had it it was to just fix 1 out of line tooth or to bring some flairing.

GOOD JOB!!!!

Gee thanks, you guys!

Have always been a bit surprised to hear of others who's problems appeared to be lesser than mine were, ending up with a lot more trays in their treatment than I needed. I figured mine were about as bad as you could get, but in reality my problems were pretty straightforward (no pun intended) & fixed easily with Invisalign.

My lowers actually would have taken more trays than my uppers, so my dentist had my plan "stretch" out the upper movements so they'd take the same number for both. I think it was easier for me that way.

Since both my arches were expanded, one of my concerns with my retainment was in keeping them that way - didn't think a permanent lower could do that, but I see where some wear an Essix type right overtop of it - not fun.

Having the Invisalign brand, there was no transition to get used to another type of appliance, either. It's been REALLY easy because of that. Hope all goes according to plan for you both, too!

And jennielee - your smile looks lovely!

Do you sometimes forget you can smile wide openly now without being self-conscious anymore?

All those years of NOT are hard to forget...

I just finished my daily wear of invisalign trays on March 1st. I started 12 hour wear since that date. I have tried cutting back the last week to every other PM--ouch last pm I could barely fit on the bottom tray. I guess I am back to sleep wear. :)

I was in invisalign for 15 months. I had 14 original trays and then 11 refinement trays. I just got my retainers- the wire kind. It has taken a while to get used to them. I got them 2 weeks ago and my teeth are still a bit sore and I still have trouble talking. I'm optimistic that I will get to wear them only at night soon! The reason I can't right now is that they were closing a slight gap in my front teeth that happened right at the end of my last tray.
