Alcohol?
Hi!
I am an active 23 year old that is going to embark on my invisalign experience too. I just wanted to know your thoughts on drinking alcohol with the aligners in. I know some people only drink water with them in, which is pretty much all I drink, however on nights I go out, to a bar or whatever, I would rather keep the trays in just bc I will be gone for such an extended time period (ie 3, 4 hours, even longer sometimes). Is it okay to drink liquor with a straw, such as with a cranberry/vodka or malibu baybreeze (my favorite and drinks I drink most often)? Just curious to see what people have to say about the liquor thing, since I've seen posts about beer and wine.
Thanks.

alcohol
Hi newbie.
I'm an active 28 year old and go out every weekend to bars and drink. I know I will be drinking something other than beer (i.e. Jack and Coke), so I take them out before my first drink. I put them in when I get home and although it sometimes is upwards of 4-5 hours - I don't feel it's a big deal.
I've been sticking to at least 20 hours a day, but sometimes on a Fri or Saturday night it might get as low as 18. This is why we chose Invisilign vs. traditional braces - for this convenience.
I'm on tray 11 of 32 and I've experienced absolutely no problems...knock on wood!

i drink a few beers after work a few times a week ..i keep them in and just take them out afterwards and really brush my teeth and the trays really well. as long as it isnt red wine or cranberry i dont think its a huge deal. if i go out to a bar for a few hrs, its the same deal..as soon as i get in i brush well and make sure all is clean.

i drink just about everything with them in. as long as the liquid isn't hot. i will usually take them out for coffee or tea. if its a real pain to take them out at the time, i'll wait until the coffee or tea has cooled off quite a bit.
i'll even eat some soft foods with them in, such as breads, donuts, cookies.
no harmful effect on my treatment as of yet.

Meryaten - i realized that after my reply. but, i couldn't find an edit button, so I just left it alone.
when i'm naughty (as in drinking acidic beverages with my aligners in), i always rinse with water or brush as soon as possible afterwards...or even in between drinks. even though i have rock hard enamel (never had a cavity), doesn't hurt to be cautious.
