Hi Everybody,

I got my invisaligns on august 30, 2007. I have been having the darnedest time keeping them in my mouth.

It's November and i have just started tray 3, because i forget so much. I am keeping them in until i feel that my teeth are ready. Am i overcompensating? Should i be this worried? Should i try sticking to the 2 week schedule, even if i miss a day or two(yes, i really have done that, many times). Or should i continue keeping them in approx a month for each liner.

I have talked with my ortho, and they said i am doing the right thing by keeping them in longer. The third one hurt like hell and i am afraid that it doesn't fit. Is anyone else having these issues? What are you doing to remember?

Problems i am having include:

Eating and then starting work after breakfast or lunch w/o brushing an placing them back in my mouth

Eating out and having drinks and forgetting to put them back in

Remembering to put them back after dinner before i go to bed

If i forget the night before, i don't always remember to put them back in(hence, a day without being in my mouth)

How do you handle long hikes, which require eating on a trails in the wilderness? I get hypoglycemic fast and can't go very long without eating after becoming hungry.

Most of my problems revolve around eating and drinking. The worst issues i am having is remembering to put them back in while watching a movie or reading a magazine and having a glass of wine or popcorn. Anyway, I am determined to keep the 3rd one in only for two weeks.

Tip, thoughts, others experiences are greatly appreciated.

Now that I only wear the bottom one I tend to forget it, but not for too long. The bottom one never bothered me, so maybe that is why.

Thank you

But come on - is it really so hard?
 Yes it is that hard. Alot of people say that they lose weight when they use these. I actually need to eat 5 meals a day or i feel terrible, no kidding! I weigh 110lbs! I can't afford to miss a meal, because i can't brush!

What I didn't mention is that I have add. I guess a better question to ask is does anyone here have add and how are they coping with having to remember something like this?

Anyhow, I probably need to be less shy about my taking these out of my mouth and brushing in public, which, i realize, is my primary problem.

I have purchased a tool called Kirby Alarm that helps alot. It sends me an email every 5 hours, during my work day, right around, when I'd be finishing-up a meal. It's helped alot :D

Still, have you actually stoppped eating popcorn during a movie? :?

I talked to my ortho. They said i am doing fine and i have a check-up, next week.

When i was talking to the ortho, during evaluation, i believe he failed to mention that I would need to take these out of my mouth to do normal things that i like eating and drinking. he also failed to mention the other options, such as behind the teeth braces, which i would probably get if i could do it over again.

Anyway, I get a verdict next week.

Thank you for your help!

p.s. i have a feeling some people don't post about this because they are embarrased to admit that they are having trouble, and as a result, end up in a situation where they have go back like five alingers. It would help me if i could get uncritical support. that's what i am here for.

do NOT leave them out...

oh man, I can't imagine forgetting about these - I'm so sick of them already they are constantly on my mind, especially since I had to jump back in aligners twice already. The first time because I wasn't wearing them enough. The second time (I think) because I wasn't using the aligner chewies enough.

Do whatever you have to do, but wear them at least 21 hours a day or it'll just be worse for you.

I lost 14 pounds on these and don't want to lose more - just eat a lot at meals. Also, I eat popcorn with them in (I don't know if that's good)

I am actually using invisalign while pregnant! I am on my first trays and I'm 30 weeks pregnant. I was worried about losing weight because I'm supposed to be gaining a pound a week at this point, but I haven't found that it has been a problem yet. My ortho said it wouldn't be a problem, so I wanted to just start instead of waiting for the baby. My problem is similar to yours in that I get very hungry very fast at work and have to snack frequently. To make the problem worse, I am a teacher, so I can't just stop teaching to brush my teeth. I have figured out a way to eat applesauce without taking the trays out. I just put a very small amount on the spoon and flip it upside down. Then, I put the spoon as far back in my mouth as possible and swallow. So far, I haven't had a problem doing this. I have also thought about trying to eat yogurt or pudding, but haven't tried those yet.
