I went for my check up and to collect more aligners yesterday and my dentist is very happy with the progress - exactly on scehdule so far.

She said I could cut down to 11 days per aligner from now on as she could see I was pretty religious about wearing them. Invisalign recommends 220 hours per aligner. If I'm wearing them 22 hours a day for 10 days, that leave 4 days of nothingness! So she suggested 11 days, which is still 10 days at 22 hours, but allows 24 hours "off" in addition with each aligner if I don't quite make 22 hours a day. She doesn't usually tell her patients this she advised me.

I'm on 6/24 u/l so that cuts the time down by 54 days - nearly 2 months!

Incidently, she accidently put in aligner 7 by mistake, instead of my current aligner 6 yesterday during my appointment and I thought hmm this hurts a little but was bearable. Then she realised and made me whip it out

But don't do what I did on aligner 6. Was a bit drunk when I got home from a night out and knew it was time to change my aligner. Hadn't realised I had put one of my old aligner sets in the packaging of aligner 5 for safe keeping and proceeded to insert the wrong aligner. It was number 1!! My oh my did that hurt like hell. Was a bit disappointed that it still fitted though!

i tried to talk my ortho into switching to 10 days but she was not having any of that so i had to stick to 14 days. Tip for the future change the trays a day or so before night out on town, i must admit if i had a special occasion i worked out when to switch if that means i wore the trays for 10 days i would then id wear the other set for a couple of days extra so the ortho never knew. oh and my drink of choice for the trays is smirnoff ice just 1 prob i strugle to dance off 2000 cals (250 a bottle) and a couple of double vodka`s in between

I always drink Smirnoff Ice with them in My dentist said she can tell I'm good with my oral hygiene and my teeth are whiter now than when I started I always rinse the aligners and brush & floss my teeth as soon as I get home.

Now I've been cut down to 11 days, I don't have much scope to leave them out for nights out on the odd occasion, so will continue to drink Smirnoff Ice with them.

Incidently, I don't feel ANY pain. Maybe it's becasue us women have a higher pain threshold?! Maybe a few hours of tenderness on the start of a new aligner, but nothing that I would class as painful

im the opposite of u i prefer to wear my trays as my teeth look much better even though i dont have to now as im now at the retainer stage, my teeth just look better until i get rid of my black triangle which im due to talk through with my ortho in jan

I agree with you diehard, I prefer the look of my teeth with the invisalign in, they make my teeth look bigger!

When I go out I ussualy dring rum and coke with the aligners in, so far I've seen no staining or decoloration, but I do make sure I give my teeth and the aligners a good cleaning once I get home.

Actually, I too prefer the look of my teeth when the aligners are in as it's smoother, and you can't see my IPR or the attachments. Just have the occasional "spitting over someone when I'm talking" problem which doesn't go down too well whilst being chatted up in bars hee hee

Hey Iwantniceteeth, how much IPR have you gotten? I got .3 on almost all top teeth, I wasn't so happy with it, but in the end it is not that noticeable.

I've had 0.3 already between about 4 teeth and 0.5 on my front and between my canines. It looks weird at first but has nearly all closed up. I'm having more at aligner 8 then that should be it. Beats having teeth extracted!

i have to watch out for a sneeze attack because the last time my mini top retainer flew out lucky nobody about

and the sad thing is im that dedicated that id have fished them out and cleaned them
