Does anyone have any thoughts/comments about this?

-The tool that helps you removed aligners. I'm getting invisalign and will have attachments/buttons. Just thought this might make it easier. Is it necessary?
Thanks.

I would imagine it would depend on a few things.....How many attachments will you have? Where are they? Do you have any fingernails? I myself have never needed anything but I have fingernails and only 2 rectangular attachments.

When you get your aligners, see whether you have trouble getting them out of your mouth. If you do, then the tool can make it easier for you. The tool isn't required; it's a convenience for people who have trouble removing the aligners.

You can get a crochet hook from your local craft store.
It took me over an hour to get my lower aligner out the first time, but it got to be a lot easier and I didn't need help or tools.

A thin but sturdy guitar pick worked well for me until I no longer had any problem getting them off (about the first 5 aligners).

I've also read on here a small piece of paper towel helps as well.

I use the white type of hook (as in the picture on the right). Later, they also gave me the blue type (on the left in the picture), like the original poster asked about. I did not like the blue one! It may have been just because I was used to using the white one for several weeks.
The reason I like the white one is it bends around my finger. It has more "give" in it. So I can kind of turn my hand to apply the force. The blue hook doesn't bend or give as much, so I have to pull it straight up or down. The blue hook also doesn't grab the aligner as well.
If you can, try both. Because of my attachments and the way my teeth were aligned, I found it much easier to learn to use the hook. I can be very precise in getting the aligners off, especially when I have a new set in. On a new set of aligners that are on tight, the precision I get from the white hook is important.
