Refinement on top before bottom is finished?

Has anyone had this, or do you know if refinement must wait until both bottom and top are done?

I have 18 trays on the top, 27 on the bottom. I'm on tray 18 and one tooth won't move (eye tooth - canine?) so definitely need refinement there. Not at all happy with the results on the top though they are a zillion times better than they were. Bottoms progressing nicely.

I have an ortho appointment in Feb but I wonder if it's possible to start refinement on the top soon, and not have to wait until MAY for it when the bottoms are done.

I'd go in to see my ortho early but last time I expressed concern he told me to read a bible passage about patience. (yeah I am not happy at all with how this is going in terms of ortho-patient relationship)

I had more on the bottom than on the top and I had to wait until all of the bottom were done before I got the refiners. My understanding was that your bite will continue to change with your bottom teeth shifting, so it is difficult for them to refine the top until they know where the bottom ended up. Does that make sense?

Yup, it does - I was thinking that might be the case. Yikes, looks like I'll have invisalign for a minimum of 2 years...at this point I feel like they are part of my teeth!!
