Out of Order

Bare with me on this story, it's a little confusing. I began my treatment on March 3 with tray set #1. When it was time for set #2, I got the top ones on just fine but, after about 30 minutes trying desperately to get the bottoms on, I took a closer look and there was no way those were going on my teeth. So I opened set #3 and took a look. The bottom tray of #3 went right on. So, in my second set, I was actually wearing upper #2 and bottom #3. When it was time to switch again, the top #3 went on just fine and I tried the #2 bottom. It still would not go on. I went to see my ortho's tech (my ortho was out of the country) and she gave me bottom set #4 and those went on just fine.

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced their trays being packaged out of order and was this a big problem. I'll see my ortho today for my first follow-up and I'll let you know what happened. I was just curious if this was an isolated event or not.

That sounds odd. Is the writing on the tray correct, like the tray number, and serial number? I would think that is all done by the computer during the manufacturing, so can't be wrong. Is it possible it is another patient's tray? Then the serial number would be off.

The only problem I had with mine was on the third set, one of the aligners had a defect in it. The point of one of my lower canines didn't fit completely into the space for the tooth. The plastic point where the tooth was supposed to fit was rounded off. It was a defect when it was created.

I hope you figure it out, and I'm interested in what was wrong.

It turns out, bottom tray #02 was put in tray #20 bag...they were just put in the wrong bags.

That's odd. I guess someone was dyslexic when putting them in the right bags. It's good to always check the tray number on each tray before you put them in or better yet before you leave the ortho/dentist with the new trays.

Good idea John. You're right and I will check before leaving the ortho from now on.
