Possible candidate for Invisalign?

Hello. I'm new to this messageboard. I'm 27 and would like to get my teeth straightened. I've been looking into Invisalign for awhile now and had my first consultation with an orthodontist today (he does Invisalign but is not a Premier Provider). To my great disappointment, he did not even consider Invisalign for me (reason: he wants to pull 3 teeth and says that Invisalign would not be able to close the gaps).
To give you an idea of what my teeth look like; I have a 6mm overjet/overbite and my bottom teeth are crooked due to crowding. Does this sound like something Invisalign could handle? Is there someone here who was in a similar situation and still ended up getting Invisalign?
I'm thinking of scheduling a second consultation with another orthodontist.

Thanks.

Thank you for your quick answer! Yes, I will definitely schedule an appointment with another orthodontist. I actually found a Premier Provider in our area. I hope that he will tell me that I can keep my teeth and that Invisalign would work for my overbite and crowding problem.

For those of you who also had/have an overbite or crowding, please share your experience.

Thanks.

[quote="Meryaten"]If you do get an answer that you can treat the overcrowding without extractions, the important questions to pose (in the opinion of this non-dental professional) are how stable the results would be, and whether opening out the arches enough to alleviate the crowding without extractions could potentially compromise the health of the roots, by leaving them covered with only a thin, fragile layer of gum tissue.

Could you explain this? I am using Invisalign for the sole purpose of eliminating the crowding in my lower front teeth. No extractions are necessary according to the plan, but some IPR and widening both arches.

I was not concerned about cosmetics (my uppers were straight and bite was fine), but was convinced by my dentist it would provide better oral health over the long term. Crowded teeth were hard to clean properly and the one pushed in front tended to bash against the upper, contributing to a failed root canal/crown. The failed crown led to the loss of the upper front tooth and an implant, so avoiding any more tooth loss is the most important thing to me. I don't really understand the process of widening the arches and your suggestion that it might compromise the roots is rather worrying.

Thanks.
