What type of retainer do you suggest?

I am 3 weeks from being done with my Invisalign Express. I have been searching the archives for info on the "safest" material for retainers. I found some discussion on different plastics that Invisalign can use when they make the aligners.
For the 20 weeks that I had aligners, I took a chance on whether the plastic was poisoning me. But I want a clearly safe choice for the retainers.
What I need now is - what is safest for use in my mouth for "the rest of my life". Has anyone researched the materials that make up the different choices in retainers? Thanks!
