how many refinements are included in the original price of Invisalign express?
I am currently done with revision 1 and am now in my bonded- behind- the teeth retainers. I just had to shell out over 300 dollars for a new invisalign retainer, which was not included in my treatment! I had no other choice than to pay, as my last aligner, which was supposed to double function as a night time retainer after treatment, is broken in three pieces! (Dead serious about this!)
I am beyond pissed, as 300 dollars is a lot of money when you are paying your way through college, and already making monthly invisalign payments.
To top it off, the ortho needed the extra money upfront as it was not part of the original treatment and payment plan!
I would assume only one refinement is included with Express, since the treatment is shoddy enough to exclude necessities like retainers!
Feedback about the 2nd refinement would be great! Also, has anyone else had to shell out hard earned cash for a retainer?
How many refinements are provided with Invisalign Express?

I got Invisalign Express, and from what was explained to me, no refinements are included, period. The reason why Express doesn't include anything is because it is substantially cheaper than getting a full set. Any more than 10 trays, and I would've been charged at least $1,000.00 more because then it would be considered a full set and not Express. I guess they make up for the cost by not including any refinements. If you aren't able to get the desired results by using the Express method, you would have to pay for any extra trays, I suppose..Haven't really discussed this with my dentist, as I feel that my case is going to be able to be corrected in 10 trays, but I was told in the beginning that retainers were NOT included in the initial price. From what I've read, the normal trays don't last very long, so using the last tray as a retainer would probably not have worked out too well anyway. I also have to pay $375 for my retainers once I'm done with my treatment, so you're not alone on that. I decided to pre-pay this and just have a credit on file w/my dentist for when my treatment is complete (I used CareCredit). It does kinda suck that Invisalign doesn't include retainers in the initial fee, but I'm not surprised really. Just wondering, regardless of the extra retainer cost, was the entire process worth it for you?

Yeah, the extra $$$ is a drag, to be sure. I'm glad that you still had great results though
Congrats! I'm looking forward to hopefully having success in the end as well. Still have 6 trays to go though
I actually had an appt. w/my dentist today, and asked the assistant whether or not refinements were included w/my Express set, just to be sure, and she said she would pose that question to my dentist...Hmm...I'm guessing that means hopefully we won't need to do any refinements, but if we do, he might be willing to let me do a few w/o any extra charge? Not sure though. I'll find out when I'm done in November, I suppose. My midline on the bottom was a bit off when I started, and will most likely be a bit off in the end, but it doesn't matter much to me. I doubt anyone will be able to tell. Do you have any pictures you're willing to share?
