should i be worried?

#1 Post by parkersg »

hi all!

so on my top tray the aligner seems to be further down or longer than one of my incisors

this results in the tray being quite visible, so much so that in all the time i've had my invisalign no one has noticed, however since this tray, at least three people have said something to me directly in the last week!

furthermore, im not sure if this is related or not, but the incisor to which i am referring to seems to be being moved forward and out of line with my other front teeth which are all straight

i was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if it is a common occurrence and also, if it would it be possible to correct it as im only on tray 7 pf 17

thanks in advance!

I am having a similar problem. One of my upper lateral incisors is suppose to rotate out from behind the central incisor, but a few trays ago I noticed the tooth was getting pushed into the gum rather than rotating. I'm on 27 of 28 now, and will need refinements for other teeth too, so I hope it will be corrected then.

Like you, a few weeks ago, two people noticed my aligners and no one had noticed before that. They could see the plastic where the tooth was all the way down in the tray.

I think because of the wedge shape of incisors, when the trays put a force on them to rotate, the force is translated into a vertical force that drives the tooth into the jaw sometimes. This may be more likely to happen if there is crowding with the adjacent teeth and no attachment on the tooth.

Hey there :) I've had the same issue this last couple of weeks too - although all 4 of my lower incisors were not meeting the end of the tray.

First I would suggest you have a good look at this tray versus your last one, and perhaps try the last one on. Has the tooth moved since the last tray, or has the shape of the tray changed and your tooth has not yet caught up?

I was a couple of days into tray 4 when I first noticed how far away one of those lower incisors was. Total panic at first  thinking my tooth was intruding (being pushed into the gum). But closer investigation showed that the reason it looked different to the previous one was that the tray had changed, not the tooth. I am a terrible worrier, and had convinced myself that the gumline had shifted down, and I was going to lose that tooth - allsorts! Looking at earlier photos helped to remind me that the gumline had always been lower on that tooth - I just didn't notice these details at the time....

After my two weeks in that tray were done, the tooth still hadn't caught up (although it was closer than at the start!) and luckily I was scheduled to visit the dentist anyway. I've got another post in this forum about what he did.

I think the cause of the problem, and hence the solution will vary in every case, so the best thing you can do is arrange an appointment and talk it through with your dentist/orthodontist. :)
Initial set: 31 upper / 17 lower
1st refinement: 14 upper / 10 lower
2nd refinement: 10 upper / 5 lower

Yes, this has happened to me as well. It first started off with just one lateral incisor not having a perfect fit, then the bottoms started to not fit so great and then the other lateral and my centrals are all not as tight to the teeth as I'd like.(this is over a period of 7-10 aligners)

No idea if this is an invisalign problem or my teeth not cooperating(though my ortho never mentioned anything the last appointment and if It was something bad I would like to think he would have said something....)
