My refinement clincheck movies

#1 Post by John37 »

Here are links to my clincheck videos for my refinements. The main thing we are trying to correct is my bite. Right now my front teeth contact, but my molars and 2nd premolars don't. You can see how the lowers are supposed to move to correct the bite on the "side view" movie.

On the lowers, my canines are still going to rotate a little. On the uppers there isn't much movement except for the one lateral incisor that needs to rotate and come down a little.

I will need 11 sets of aligners, but they are getting 3 extra overcorrection" trays. These are the last 3 frames of the movies. The purpose of these is if there are still gaps on the front teeth, these last trays can be used to bring the front teeth together and in a little more. You should be able to notice what I'm talking about on the last 3 frame of the movies.

And the reason there is a gap between the uppers and lowers at the end of the movie is because it starts with my current bite. The anterior lower teeth are getting pushed down leaving the gap between the upper. Basically, the last frame has a uniform gap between the upper and lower teeth and I'll be able to close my lower jaw a little more than I can now. Hopefully, the teeth will all mesh correctly.

I will be getting 0.1mm IPR on 6 or 7 gaps on the lower teeth, but I don't think this will even be noticeable to other people.

Even though my teeth are currently much straighter than when I started, it's still annoying that the bite is off. When I smile without my aligners in, my teeth don't fit together solidly, so it just feels weird to have a big smile. It doesn't feel natural. I can't bite down solidly and smile big at the same time. It's like all the pressure is on my left lower canine and one of my incisors. It's hard to describe. So I hope that with a better bite and time I will be less conscious of this.

Thanks for sharing John :)

I wonder if some of the bite issues will actually be addressed once you finish with Invisalign?

I ask that because I'm sure I've read somewhere that Invisalign can cause some intrusion of back teeth, but that it typically reverses once you are finished and into retention - as long as you aren't using tray type retainers. Anterior bonding or palette type retainers allow those back teeth to extrude slightly and the bite to settle.

It does seem that it would be asking a little too much of your bite at the moment, so I'm sure that refinement is the best option.

I'm hoping that is the case because my bite was comfotable and reasonably straight pre-Invisalign. My back teeth are not meeting very well at the moment. That is partly thanks to incisors meeting as they move, but I also think I'm experiencing some intrusion.

I'll be interested to know how the refinement goes... :)

I don't think I've had an intrusion from using Invisalign. Those back teeth never came together before. One of my lower wisdom teeth contacted an upper molar and that's where I did a lot of my chewing, but I got all my wisdom teeth out, so now there is no contact. I also had a crossbite on both sides. The uppers are aligned better now, but still don't contact.

I'm not sure how we would address the bite after Invisalign.

I am concerned that the front lowers will not get pushed down (intruded) like the clincheck shows. My dentist said Invisalign is good at intruding teeth, but still the incisors, canines and first molars are supposed to go down while the molars and 2nd premolar are supposed to move up. I'm just not sure if the forces are balanced and that will happen. We'll see. My dentist thought that my lower front teeth showed too much when I smile, so that's another reason to have them intruded a bit.

Hmmmm. You anterior Clincheck does seem to be expecting those lower incisors to intrude a long way. I guess you can only give it a go, and see how the refinement turns out.

What are your thoughts on switching to fixed braces if Invisalign cannot sort out your bite?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I hope it doesn't come to that, and I'll cross that bridge when/if I come to it. I think we could try elastics to bring the back lower teeth up before that. And I'm not sure what braces could do to fix my bite that Invisalign can't do. My dentist said Invisalign is good at intruding teeth. I think the key is having the attachments on my 2nd premolars provide enough leverage to counterbalance the force from the front teeth. I guess I'll just wait and see and hope for the best.

You should be able to take a USB drive (memory stick) to your dentist's office and save the movies to that. Hopefully, the dentist and/or assistants won't mind taking the time to get you the movies. Someone posted the directions below before. You can print them and take them with you to make sure they know how to save the movies.

Please note that you will have to position the ClinCheck view to the one you will want to export.

Click on "Utilities" --> "Save" --> "Movie"
You can then select "Course of Treatment" or "Spinning Jaw".
The movies posted here are usually "Course of Treatment".

Note: You can also select "More Options" to configure movie resolution, movie quality, movie speed, etc..
The doctor could also configure his Clinicial Information for the movie as well.

Finally, click on "OK" and choose a place to save the movie into.

Note that the movie will be an "avi" file and it could be rather large if you choose high resolution settings.
