So I just got my invisalign less than a week ago and on my 4th day of wearing my first set out of 10, I develop angular cheilitis (cracks at the side of my mouth). They are immensely painful when I open my mouth to take out and put in the aligners. I'm almost sure it is due to the invisalign as I have never had this condition before.

Anyone experience this and can offer any advice? Or even an explanation of why invisalign would cause the angular cheilitis would be appreciated.

Thank you very much for your time!

Hi i havent experienced that but my lips are very sore and keep getting dry skins (chapped) on them i think this is because of invisalign. I keep drinking plenty of water which is good as i usually dont drink water at all but now i have to :(

Yesterday the inside of my mouth my gum at the back on my left side of the cheek is really really sore am not sure if i have bit it or if its because my teeth are moving.

At night i keep waking up and am really biting my teeth together am a little concerned as i dont want to damage the trays, does anyone else have this problem? will i end up damaging my trays?

I am a really tense person and clench(and hard too) probably 12 hours a day(on weekends it is better) and I know for a fact that I grind my teeth when I sleep as well and I have never damaged an aligner. I was worried about that when I started but don't worry!

I have previously found that I have chapped lips from toothpaste. With Invisalign, I'm now brushing several times a day instead of my usual sloppy morning / evening, and that I'm having more problems. I'm trying to wipe my lips with a damp washcloth after brushing and this seems to help.

my lips are really really chapped and its annoying me now as they look horrible very dry. I am just using the same toothpaste as before but just brushing a lot lot more than usual, do you really think it could be because of the toothpaste?

My lips were very dry at first too. I just carried around lip balm in my pocket for awhile. The problem seemed to go away after a bit, they were mostly just dry for awhile at first.

havent experienced this, have experienced dry lips though due to invisalign, i reccomend getting a chap stick and putting that on you rlips when you feel the need to and it will fix it.
