Just finished initial treatment (w/pics)

#1 Post by HeatherS »

Hey guys. Yesterday I officially completed my initial set of trays (17u, 13l) and got impressions taken for refinements. I figured I would post some before and after pictures because when I first started I was always looking for before/after pics. To give you some background, I'm 22 and my "fangs" have always bothered me. Other than protruding canines my teeth weren't too bad. Last summer on a whim I decided to go to an Invisalign consultation and decided to go through with it. Back when I was 16 years old I went to see an ortho about Invisalign and he said I wasn't a candidate, so I was a little hesitant when starting. Anyway, back in June when I first got my clincheck I was suppose to have attachments on my four front teeth, but I absolutely didn't want them, so my dentist said it would be fine to leave them off. On top of this, I was told I would have to wear elastics for my entire treatment but every time I went in for a check-up my dentist said they weren't necessary yet.
As it stands now I am completely satisfied with my decision to go through with Invisalign. My teeth are nowhere near perfect, but I never wanted them to be. I no longer have "fangs" and that's all I care about. The total cost was $3500 and the first treatment took 8 mos. The refinement I'm starting in a few weeks will last about 3 mos, during this time I will have to wear elastics and also I agreed to attachments on my front teeth to pull the incisors down (the ones right next to my canines). I had little discomfort and no problems during treatment. If anyone has questions feel free to ask. Oh, and if anyone has a similar problem with their teeth and wants more pics I took a ton of pictures throughout the process so feel free to PM me.

Thank you so much for posting these pictures.

Your teeth look fantastic. What an amazing difference! Pictures like this are such a boost to people like me who are just in early days, so thank you very much for this.

Have you bleached as well as your teeth look really white- fantastic.

Thanks again

Thanks for the nice responses guys.

To myhollywoodsmile: I was given a bleach kit at the beginning of treatment and used about half of it. It worked great but made my teeth super sensitive so I stopped using it. The main reason my teeth look so much whiter in the second pics is due to the camera's flash.

Wow, what nice teeth you have. Did you have to get IPR to make your canines fit?
