Complications with Invisalign and open-bite.

I have spacing of the upper front teeth as well as an open bite caused by a tongue thrust condition. The open bite in front already caused some mild lip & chin strain when closing my mouth. Upon wearing the aligners this strain became much worse and it felt as though there was just not enough room in my mouth to support wearing the aligners. I explained this to my ortho who said I could just wear one aligner at a time 12 hrs. a day to reduce the bulk of the aligners in my mouth. I tolerated this feeling for a few months but have now noticed changes in my lower lip and chin muscle from the added strain. There is now some "rippling" of these muscles around my mouth as they've had to compensate for the added thickness of the aligners over my teeth. I am just wearing one aligner at a time, but still hate the feeling of the top aligner in particular. Could anyone tell me if it might be possible to maybe just switch the top to lingual braces that go behind the teeth and continue with invisalign on the bottom? I really wish I had gone with lingual braces to begin with, but if it's at all possible to reduce the full cost of them by now getting them just on the top teeth I would really like to do that. Thanks so much for any help I can get!
