Invisalign versus braces, decide which one?

Hi,
Just wanted to let you know why I think braces are better than invisalign. I had invisalign for 2 years. I thought they would be "invisable" but you have attachments on your teeth, I had 8!!! These are rectangles that they put on the front of your teeth. They show and people used to stare at me; I think trying to figure out what they were. Now I have clear braces and I think they just see them and think "oh she has braces". Way less embarrassing.

Also, they take longer than braces and my ortho said that the results would not be as good. And they are a little more expensive.

Hope this helps you decide. dwanton

Did you switch from Invisalign to regular braces because of appearance or because the treatment wasn't working?

I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience with Invisalign, but not everyone feels the same way.

Not everyone's attachments are that visible. My teeth don't show much unless I smile very wide. No one has noticed my attachments, but a few noticed the aligners themselves. That was only because one tooth stopped fitting completely into the aligner and they could see the plastic on that tooth. Overall, I think Invisalign is less noticeable than braces.

There are also other benefits to Invisalign over braces, like it's easier to clean your teeth. But there are some things that Invisalign won't handle as easily as braces.

Hi there,
I think Invisalign are way less noticeable than clear braces I have to say. I have attachments and they really aren't an issue at all.
Invisalign are are easy to clean, get the job done and can be removed when you need to.
I'm not sure when you had your Invisalign or how experienced your ortho was but Invisalign are just as good as fixed braces for many kinds of treatment now and are often quicker too. In fact my ortho says there he has several cases where Invisalign is a lot better than fixed braces.
For me, there is no way I would have gone with clear fixed braces, because I wouldn't have been happy to have that appearance. The Invisalign have therefore allowed me to straighten my teeth where I wouldn't otherwise have done.
