Decision made - Invisalign Uppers / Ice Braces Lowers...

Hello,
as you can read in my posts below, I am starting treatment and went through some consultations. I have now decided for an Orthodontist. The consultations I had with dentists didn't convince me, I believe my case is too complicated for a Dentist as opposed to an Ortho, and I also felt they were trying to sell Invisalign to me, and made everything sound way too easy!
I will now get Invisalign for the upper teeth, and Ice braces on the lower, as this should bring the best result. Anyone any experience with a combination of braces and Invisalign?
thanks!

Hi Mona,
I have Invisalign uppers and fixed ceramic lowers and I've been very happy with the results and the ease of care so far. I'm on aligner 33 of 33 (but I need refinements) and should be debraced by March. If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to help.
Good luck!

Hi smilesunset, glad to hear your treatment is working fine and good to find someone with the same combinaton of braces. Thought it would be quite rare to have normal braces and invisalign.
I want to get started as soon as possible now, but will be late February till I get mine I think.
Also have to go to a consultation with an implants specialist before I start - I have bridges at my lowers now which need replacing, but my dentist is not prepared to replace the bridges but instead tells me i should have implants. I am not so happy about it as they are so expensive and its quite an invasive option as well, all this in addition to the Orthodontic treatment is a bit much to take, especially financially..

Hi Smilesunset, a question for you!
As you are only wearing Invisalign on the uppers, same as I will (getting mine end of Feb!) were you able to drink (herbal tea for example, or white wine) with them in maybe, or same as if you would have worn them on the uppers and lowers, so nothing apart from water?
thanks!

I've been eating and drinking normally with my aligner in all through my treatment. This is still a somewhat controversial option, but my orthodontist recommends it because he believes the constant pressure gets better results. I take my aligner out after I finish eating and brush my teeth and the aligner. I've eaten everything from curry to sandwiches to tabbouleh (though I wouldn't recommend that last one -- chopped parsley inside your aligner is not a good look!). I drink red wine and whatever else I feel like. I definitely feel that having only one aligner makes it easier to eat with it in as you have one good tooth surface for chewing. The only thing my ortho says I shouldn't do is drink hot coffee with my aligner in (although I have done it once or twice and it was fine). None of my past aligners are stained or warped in any way.
At the end of the day, do what feels comfortable for you. But I certainly wouldn't worry about drinking with the aligner in, as long as you rinse afterwards and brush when you can.
Good luck!

that's interesting, thanks!
I guess i have to see how it goes in the first weeks.
Did you get to see your ClinCheck by the way? Did it include your lowers as well or only the uppers?
