I'm down to 4 trays left and my ortho has told me the next step is to cut the rear portions of my trays off covering my molars to let my bite settle and the gaps between my upper and lower molars close. Doe anyone have experience with how long this takes?

I'm also now down to my last 4 trays, but ortho made no mention of settling my bite down :?

Hi Wireless,

I had my last Invisalign tray since Oct 2009 and I am still waiting for my teeth to "settle".
See my previous post about the Occlusal (Bite) Adjustment:

Basically, my Ortho told me to only wear the final aligners (I still have my buttons on my teeth) at night only (so about 8 hours per day) and we performed 3 sessions of the bite adjustments in 6 week intervals. The top teeth are close to the final aligner and is pretty loose when I put it on following the 16 hours where it's off. The bottom teeth however, are still pretty tight and my Ortho now suggest that I wear the bottom tray for 12 hours and the top tray for 8 hours. My next appointment is in about 4 weeks and hopefully my teeth would all be in the right place (fully settled) for me to have the buttons off and my Essix retainers molded.

So far, I have been on my last aligner for 150 days  .

Thanks for your comments pie. You confirmed that the settling process could take a while. In my case, my orthodontist wants my rear molars to extrude more on their own by cutting off the back sections of my aligners. I only have three more to go and was hoping that settling would happen quickly. It looks like I'll have a large gap (maybe 2 mm) between my upper and lower molars when I finish the last trays. Have an appointment tomorrow and I'm sure I'll be getting more details.
