I think I will need more trays. I was on a 16 tray 8 month period. I thought that was awfully optimistic, as I see most people here are on 30+ tray programs. I was shocked when I was only asked to do 16 trays. Currently several days into tray 15 of 16, and although my front tooth has moved significantly (a toothpick no longer fits in the gap) but my teeth moved and now there are gaps elsewhere. My left back row there is a space between the top and bottom teeth that a toothpick can slide through which wasn't the case before invisalign.
Because Invisalign is moving my cross bite, my teeth are still moving and right now it's caused a gap in the backrow.
So I guess I will need extra trays after tray 16. I don't think it'll be fixed in the next 3 weeks and therefore am not completely satisfied with it, but overall in the end everything should be fine and I'm thankful I opted for Invisalign. No regrets.
2 trays left to go... although not completely satisfied YET

I wasnt't happy with my results after I finished my 21U/21L. I asked for refinements and now I have 8U/8L so hopefully my teeth will be completely straight after this. My teeth have straightened up completely after I finished my original sets but the overbite was not gone. I really hope the refinements will push my teeth back and I will be happy with the results.
started invisalign 23rd March 2009
finished invisalign 3 June 2010

At least you know everything goes well as planned
I read some cases where the teeth didn't move as shown in the clincheck. Maybe the patients failed to meet the 20+ hours or even 22+ hours as suggested by Invisalign, or maybe it's the ortho's lack of experience with Invisalign....
I hope your refinements will work wonders.

I'm pretty sure that it's the doctor who decides whether or not to charge for refinements.leevshan wrote:hi andrea,
After finishing Invisalign, does your current teeth look similar as in the clincheck? I thought if it is, you couldn't get free refinements?
Your teeth "matching" the clincheck is still pretty subjective and doesn't mean that the desired outcome is achieved. Clincheck is still just a picture.
However, if a doc wants to use that as a reason to charge for refinements, then I guess that's their right.

Invisalign is just a tool, not a treatment in and of itself. Some movements are just harder to achieve and every mouth is different.
It's often nobody's fault that when refinements are needed, it's just part of the process. I have metal on the bottom and it's exactly the same.
Some movements happen easily, others take more time and adjustments to the treatment. Just with invisalign, the dentist doesn't have much they can do in the middle of treatment if things go slightly off.
Teeth are a bit unpredictable.
