Just wondered if anyone does much sport with invisalign in? I'm an avid swimmer but am scared of swimming with them in incase the chlorine makes them go weird maybe?! Has anyone worn them swimming? I don't really want to lose a precious hour not wearing them to swim when I need that time for eating!!!

I haven't gone swimming with the aligners in... Interesting question, though! You are not keeping the chlorinated water in your mouth for any period of time, so I can't imagine there to be a problem. Maybe you would feel better cleaning the aligners as soon as you finish swimming? Maybe someone else out there has a better answer for you!

I do dance rather vigorously every week, and I do notice that I really have to drink more water than I used to before Invisalign. As I huff and puff, my mouth dries out so much that I feel like I am eating sand. The plastic, in my opinion, is a natural "dehydrater" anyway.

I was actually wondering the same thing when it comes to sports.

I am starting boxing classes soon and will need to wear a mouthguard. I'm going to ask my ortho when I see him next week, hopefully I can keep my invisalign in.

swimming with aligners in is fine according to my ortho - I brush my teeth and aligners afterwards.

I do scuba diving training in a pool regularly which means having to get the pool water in my mouth regularly.

I also keep them in for other sports (netball, rock climbing and gym), just need to drink more water.

Not sure how boxing would work out  I guess you'd need to be careful of being hit in the mouth?

I struggle with running - I run regularly but a few miles in the vibration seems to make my teeth hurt - and afterwards it hurts too!

I've worn them swimming, running, in the gym..and have had no problems. I was a bit scared that the heat in a sauna could melt them or something, but I think it was ok!

I live in Queensland Australia and have a pool so this was quite an issue for me. My ortho told me to take them out for swimming. One reason is that there are a lot of germs in a pool that you don't necessarily want caught in your aligners. Another is that regular salt water/chlorine isn't great for them.
All other sports were ok'd by him, but certainly no beach wear!
