I have been hestitantly wanting to start Invisalign. Didn't understand attachments much at first as I thought the attachments were only on aligners not also on your teeth. One of our children may be getting married next year and wondered how the photos would look even if the aligners were out?
Would that tooth attachment be very noticeable in a photo? Also, my husband and i go to many fancy affair--, I had thought if i had taken out the aligner for the evening my teeth would just look normal, now after reading more of the blogs, perhaps I have been misguided in my thinking.
Looking for some direction so I will know to get the first trays and start or not.
Thanks

It is impossible, I think, to have a good idea of what attachments you might have before you have impressions done and Invisalign completes the clin-check for you. In addition, not everyone needs attachments. I had seven and am down to five right now, and all are (were) on front teeth. However, when I have refinements, it is quite likely I won't need as many, but depending on what yet needs to be done, I may have them put on my front teeth again.
I do think that the attachments are more noticeable when the aligners are not being worn. In addition, I actually don't notice the attachments in my photos! They seem big to me, but I am always surprised at how invisible they are in photos. Also, if it helps, my ortho has just told me that Invisalign has been working to have even less visible attachments (they are clear so they will blend exactly with the teeth).
I am really happy that I have taken the step to do Invisalign because this short period of inconvenience will have a big payoff for me in the end! Think on it some more, and I am sure you will make a decision that is best for you!

They are almost invisible. I had 5 attachments during my treatment but none were on my front teeth so they were not visible. It depends where your attachments will be. As mentioned above they are much less visible when the trays are in.
The attachments would not be visible on the photos, unless taken from very close.

Some of our patients have had attachments for weddings photos, graduation, engagements and interviews. They've all commented that they are more aware of the attachments than anyone else!

No one has ever noticed my attachments (and trust me, my friends are HONEST
). I had attachments on my eye teeth. You can't see them on photos - I would guess a photo would need to be taken as close as say less than a metre away for the attachments to be seen (and even then I think would depend on angles etc).
If you were going to have attachments on the very front teeth, maybe they would be noticable in photos taken from a side profile, but front on photos would be alright I think.

I had five attachments- at the moment I have two.
I have taken literally hundreds of photos during this treatment and other than the ones where I am photographing only my mouth for my blog you cannot see them in pictures.
When it is a photo at social distance they are simply not visible.
Good Luck
