I have completed my first set of refinments but the same thing is happening that happened to my invisalign trays, i have a gap in my second tooth whereby the tray is not covering the whole of the tooth as it has not pulled it down enough so i have a gap in my tray.
The dentist said to me a couple of weeks ago as i expressed a concern about this he said it might not work and that i might need to start Invu the clear metal brace.
I stated to him the next time i seen him that i was not happy to start Invu as i paid for invisalign, he then truned round and said have faith i still have 2 more chances with the refinments and it will work, but now am not convinenced i have paid a lot of money for this and he said it might not work, i could have got the metal brace in the first place but he stated that it would work.
Am confused has this happened to anyone else?

There are certain movements that are not easily achieved using Invisalign. You can go through 100 refinements without achieving your desired results if manner in which your teeth are moved is not physically or biologically plausible.
Speak to your dentist about your concerns again. Keep in mind that not all dentists/orthodontists will be able to address your concerns with Invisalign equally. Also in some cases, fixed braces/buttons/elastics may be indicated.
Good luck!

My last 6 trays didn't cover a particular tooth.
I've already posted a thread on this but Invisalign are coming back with 28 tray refinements.
Ive got a horrible feeling about it not working for me either.

I'm sorry Ems, that's really tough news to hear.
I am a few aligners away from being done and I've had aligner fitting issues throughout my treatment (and it seems to be getting worse, actually), so I'm quite certain I will be needing refinments too. But as anyone who has done Invisalgn will tell you, it's a lot of time and effort keeping on top of it and then to be told it might not work for you...that's tough.
Hang in there, and yes, please keep us updated!

Hi all just a quick update i have finished my first set of refinements (18 on top) didnt get any for the bottom havent had any on the bottom since i finished all 10 trays of invisalign, i had 24 for the top so i have my bottom tray for a really long time and it has snapped in half and i would need to pay £90 for a new one which i see is pointless as i still wear it to bed as it fixes in.
Anyway back to my refinements i stated to my dentist that this is not working as i have a gap in the tray where my tooth isnt pulling down, he said he will see if Invisalign get back to him as he will question about my tooth, they got back to him and said i need 15 more trays for the top, he then wrote back to them questioning why i needed so many trays and they have reduced this to 11 more refinements, when i spoke to him he stated that the end result isnt showing my tooth the way it should and that i would need the fixed brace, he stated i should wear the refinements until i get to tray 5 and if it isnt working then he will fix the Invu brace but i dont want this i want Invisalign to work, he now states that he has a couple of cases where Invisalign hasnt worked. Why didnt he tell me this in the begining and surely Invisalign cant advertise that it works when clearly it doesnt work on everyone.
Am so upset as i feel i have wasted nearly 2 years on Invisalign and i could have just got a brace in the begining but i didnt want a noticable brace.
This is really getting me down as i feel i have wasted so much money and so much time on these and every story i read it has worked for everyone, i dont know what to do.

I'm sorry to read that your treatment isn't working out for you. Were you told up front there was a possibility of having fixed braces at the end? In my case, I was originally told I could require regular braces for 6 to 8 months if Invisalign didn't work. My orthodontist wanted to use Invisalign over regular methods because of a damaged tooth root, even though I have a complex case. I was ready to switch if needed.
So far, it looks like Invisalign is working out in my case, along with partial Essix retainers made to be the same as my last Invisalign trays to finish opening my deep bite. However, it was good to know what to expect up front.
For me, the only thing has been that treatment is taking longer than expected - now approaching two years - and I don't have an idea when I'll finish.
Hopefully, you and your dentist will be able to come up with a satisfactory solution. Good luck!!

Thanks Wireless for your reply, my dentist never said i would need fixed braces, he said i could have fixed braces or invisalign on my first consultation and i decided to go for invisalign as i had fixed braces in my teens. He said Invisalign would work and its not, am really disappointed that its not going to work and if i known in the begining it wasnt i would have opted for the fix brace as i would have been finished probably within a year. Am just frustrated now as i thought i would have been finished and would have been pleased with my teeth.
Am glad your treatment is going well and hopefully you will get a finish date soon.
I will keep you posted.
