Dry Mouth Relief - *WARNING* - Kinda Long Post

#1 Post by BigOleGap »

Hello all
Im entering my 3rd week of treatment and so far I have had 2 ulcers in my mouth and my gums near my upper back tooth became swallon for a few days. Was able to cure my ulcers just by literally sleeping with my mouth wide open so the moisture would't aid my uclers in sticking around for a longer period of time and for my swallon gum I gargled with peroxide. Problems solved!

Now here I am into my 3rd week and now Im suffering from dry mouth. I have been using biotene drymouth mouth wash for a few days now and it is a little relief, well more so during the nite time. My main problem with the dry mouth is during the day however. You see Im call center agent and I have to talk all day long which does not help my dry mouth at all, in which most of the time I find myself taking my aligners out just to get some relief. I know this is bad but what else am I to do? Ugh!!!

Any suggestions will by greatly appreciated.

Also - I find that most people have to keep their aligners in for 2 weeks before changing them, where I have to keep mine in for 3 weeks before changing them in which Im changing to my second set of trays tomorrow. Im just hoping that they fit considering all the times that I had to take my braces out just to get some relief in my mouth. Has any one else had this experience also???

I had some dry mouth too. I believe that in my case, prior to invisalign (apperantly) I wasn't drinking enough water and was running around mildly dehydrated all of the time. Once I started having the dry mouth issue, I started keeping a bottled water with me at all times thinking that I'd have to swish every 30 minutes just to be able to tolerate the trays, but I've found that the increased water intake actually cured the problem for me. Now I just make sure I'm getting the amount of water I was supposed to be drinking all along, and I don't have that problem anymore.

I hope you see an improvement soon!

I also wear mine for 3 weeks at a time. Even when I have weeks/times that I leave them out longer than I should the next ones always fit. Just try not to do it that close to when you change them.

I go between excess saliva and dry mouth - when I have the dry mouth I just sip on water during the day - keep it at my desk or next to me on the table at home, etc.
