Buttons (attachments) placed on the lingual side of teeth?

#1 Post by drted »

DrTed asks:
My patient Pat asked me about placing all the buttons on the lingual surfaces of the teeth. Any of you have them all on the inside? Did you request that specifically from your Ortho. ? Have they worked out ok? Do they make it difficult to remove the trays? Other?

yes, i had one on my lateral incisor. It was ver comfortable, didn't affect my speech or make it difficult to take out the trays at all. I asked my ortho if it was possible and he said he could if i want to. I knew i needed an attachment on that tooth because my first round of aligners pushed it up slightly instead of rotating it. So after, 11 refinement trays with a lingual attachment, the tooth barely moved. I'm getting my 2nd refinements in a couple of weeks and now i don't care if its going to be in the front because i just want it to work. I wonder if it had been in the front from the beginning if i wouldn't noticed more movement

I had to have one. Basically on the back of the lateral incisor the tooth hadn't rotated enough with the refinement trays, so he put a massive piece of white tooth filling on the lingual side of the tooth to apply more pressure.
