Invisalign affecting bite??

Hello,

I got my first set of aligners today, so far, so good, apart from the pressure feeling!

I just wondered if anyone else found that, when you first started wearing them, it looks as though you are slightly jutting your lower jaw out? As if you were squaring your chin? It's only slight but I'm very aware of the fact that I look like I'm jutting my chin out - which is not a good look! It also feels like it's a bit of an effort to keep my lips together?? I have to consciously think about keeping them closed!

Any advice would really be appreciated!

Hello

It's really weird that the Invisalign can jutting your lower jaw out...with the first trays?
Due to the aligners of course your mouth doesn't close perfectly, at the end you have plastic on your teeth!!

I found a strange feeling the first time I wore my aligner about my bite too but it's normal, with the time you'll get use to it :)

What I noticed the most, after few trays, that my teeth are different now they're moving so they close differently than before, your mouth is going to change so forget your old feelings :-*

Good luck with your wonderful Invisalign!

Chances are that it is far more noticable to you than to anyone else. My mouth felt HUGE for the first few days of invisalign, I think it is just your mouth's perogative to continually remind you 'something isn't right! help me! get it out!'. You'll get used to it in a few days.

At night I still have to make a conscious effort to fully close my lips over my aligners, and I am 6 months into treatment. I have had constant chapped lips the entire time, so I suggest that you get yourself some lip balm just in case :)

I think I know what you're talking about, is it because you feel the need to press the top brace on more so you jut your lower jaw out slightly and push up? I had that, still do it now and I'm on my refinement trays 16 months later.
