Hey,
Does anybody in hear have a good recommendation for an office in Toronto, Canada? I saw one office but they quoted me 6 grand. Was wondering if that's average? Also I was suggested that I need a extraction done is that common with invisalign?

The fees are going to depend on a number of things including the experience of the doctor and the presentation of your malocclusion. The way teeth present is also going to make a difference with whether or not an extraction is required. Extracting teeth with the use of Invisalign is a relatively advanced type of treatment, so your due diligence before selecting your doctor is going to be very important.

All of this being said, $6000 is not a lot at all, considering you are going to require an extraction. The timing of the treatment is likely going to be 1.5-2 years, depending on your case. In fact, amongst experienced providers, I can tell you that this is probably on the low side.

In order to aid you with your selection of doctor, you may want to read over some of this information: http://www.torontobraces.ca/choosingadoctor/

Good luck!

The average prices for dentists and for orthodontists vary. The difference in doctor’s experience usually leads to different levels of services (some doctors just hand out trays every few weeks; some plan, monitor & keep your treatment on track), and scope of treatment (cosmetic fix for the front 6 upper & lower teeth vs. full treatment for all your teeth including alignment and bite issues). You could have very different results depending on the doctor you pick. Make sure you ask lots of questions.

2 recommendations in Toronto:
1) Dr. Jason Tam (mcosmiles.com) – he’s very enthusiastic & knowledgeable about Invisalign as you can tell from his postings here.

2) Dr. Willy Dayan (Cityortho.ca) – he’s one of best Invisalign orthodontists in the world and he’s on the Invisalign faculty (i.e. teaches other doctors about using Invisalign)

Here’s an older thread about finding doctors with some info that could be helpful to your search … http://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtop ... 19&t=40465

Good Luck!!

Thanks Robin8 for the unsolicited recommendation! Just of note, I have been on Invisalign's speaker list for the past few years and travel nationally on behalf on Align Technology a couple of times a year to teach dentists and orthodontists how to use Invisalign. At this point, I made the personal and professional choice not to travel 12-16 times a year to speak, so have not been given the title of Faculty. There are only a few higher volume Invisalign doctors in the GTA with the right experience, and Dr. Dayan is definitely one of them.
