New here, braces to be put on 7-31-06

Heya everyone.

I'm new here, and I'm getting my braces on Monday 7-31. I'm 25 years old and I am a single mother of a 5 year old girl.

Anyway, I have finally decided to fix my teeth after watching a friend get her braces. It really inspired me.

I'm going with the metal, even though I could of done the ceramic. But my case is, my lovely girl will be with me and I can let her pick out the colours and feel "included" too.

I'm having 1 tooth removed, #24 in case you all know teeth. and I'm having that pulled on the 27th. After about 6 months I'm going to have surgery since I have an overbite. Let me tell you, I knew it was ugly, well not so much in the omg it sticks out a mile, but when you see the pictures of your teeth, it really makes you say EEEWWW!

I'm looking for some support through my procedure as My family is pretty against this. Mom is trying to convince me not to cause "your teeth will fall out" (my step dad's cousin lost all her teeth and she blamed it on braces)

I don't know, I don't want to make this huge. If you want to know more feel free to ask! I'll be haunting here for the next year! lol

Thank you all so much for the very warm welcome. I can already tell this is going to be a very friendly place. I've gone to a few message boards like this and only once have I truely felt like people cared.

Ok, lip balm, need to get along with a water pick. As for the lip balm is there some type that is good? I generally don't wear even lip gloss. I only do for a hot date. lmao. Otherwise very rarely will I use "Lips so Soft" as they have a nice mint flavour that I like.

As to my daughter, she's gonna love it. We pretty much are always together. It's so funny as she is a mini me only with the opposite as me. I'm dark hair, eyes, more olive complexion, and she is very fair. I'm keeping my fingers crossed she isn't cursed with my overbite. I can't wait till I show her the braces. I decided she can pick for the bottom colours and if I know she won't be at my appointment I'm gonna ask her.

Some friends are already giggling at me in a good way, cause they know I'm and artsty (haven't practiced in 6 years) person and I will go to extremes for no reason at all.

Anyway, thank you again. I'll be around as my tooth is pulled out tomorrow and I suffer through Hobo friday, sat and sunday. lol. I'm already freaked more that I'm gonna be missing a tooth. But at least when I go to Aruba at the end of October, I won't have a huge whole!

Yay for getting metal braces! I heard ceramics are painful to remove.

Looks you you've done your research. The most important things for my braces are a Waterpic and lip balm.

I use any lip balm. I currently use Rite-Aid brand.

you will do fine with the extraction.. and dont worry abou the gap.. I have 4 gaps and they are barely noticable from the front view..anyway they wont be there long..just think about how beutiful your teeth will be when you are done!

Good luck tomorrow and eat some icecream! (with a spoon not a straw!)
