Braces go on tomorrow

I'm glad I found this site. There is so much information here. Wish I had found it earlier. I'm 38 yrs old and finally found the courage to do this. My dentist has been trying to get me to for several years. My bottom teeth are very overcrowded and tilted every direction. The top teeth aren't quite as bad. I consulted 3 orthodontists and found one that I really like. I had 4 teeth extracted last week so now there is no going back. The extractions weren't as bad as I thought. The extractions were one of the reasons I was avoiding braces. I also had 8 spacers put in. They are not very comfortable. I go in at 9:00 tomorrow morning to get the braces. I will be going with metal on the bottom and ceramic on top. My estimated treatment time is 30 months for the bottom teeth and 18 months for the top. I will post pictures of myself when I get the braces on. I am nervous but also getting excited about this.

Hi Lori,

Congratulations on beginning your orthodontic treatment. I think it's great that you went to multiple consults and found an orthodontist that you liked. I think this is one of the reasons I'm enjoying my ortho treatment - the orthodontist and his staff are the greatest and are never too busy to answer any questions.

What made you decide to go for the ortho treatment?

My main reason for seeking treatment was my appearance. Teeth very overcrowded etc. Also keeping my teeth clean has been very difficult. I don't know what made me have the courage to do this but after my extractions there is no turning back. I will post pics of me with braces tomorrow. I've really enjoyed looking at everyone elses picstures. What improvements.
