My second time around

#1 Post by susanjkr »

I got braced again for the second time on July 5th by the same office that did them the first time. The only difference is the father I saw before has retired and I am seeing his sons this time. The first time I was 12 and can honestly say I wasn't the most cooperative patient. Now 23 years later I can say I'm going to try my best to do everything better, which considering I'm paying for it this time that is making a big difference. I had an upper left premolar extracted on the 13th and a gum graft on tooth 24 done on the 14th :soremouth: . Right now I have all my brackets and most of my molar bands on but they only wired the top front 6 teeth until I had the extraction and gum graft done. They should finish putting everything else in when I go back in August. They are expecting about 2 to 2-1/2 years for treatment which is a lot better than the 6 I wore them when I was a kid. Thanks for having this board where I can read about what to expect different this time around.

Hi Susan

Good luck and hope that all gos well, I am 30 and in braces as well for the 2nd time.

Do you know what they will be fiiting at your adjustment in August.

The first few weeks arethe hardest getting used to braces, so use plenty ofwax and pain killers

After follow up at periodontist

#3 Post by susanjkr »

I went for my 2nd and last follow up at the periodontist today. He said my graft was looking real good and everything has healed nicely. I'm hoping this means that the orthodontist will finish putting on my molar bands and wires on Aug 8th. I have already noticed some movement on my upper fronts that have been wired. They really started moving after the extraction. Thanks for asking.
