So, I go in to get my spacers taken out and my lower back bands on, and tell my ortho about my teeth hitting. He makes an adjustment so now only one tooth hits and it doesn't hurt, just feels strange as the tooth is now loose and wiggling every time I bite. Hoooray!
But, both of the new bands have sharp points that feel like needles poking into the bottom of my tongue. They tore it up badly before I managed to get was to stick to them...wax doesn't seem to like adhering to bands under the tongue. It just kinda floats on the band until I move my tongue the wrong way. I'm perfectly fine unless I want to eat or drink...then the wax immediately comes off and the points dig themselves in.
I'm learning quickly that apparently each visit is going to bring its own new problem. This is one I'm not going to live with, though...I'm praying I can get in first thing Monday morning and they can file down the points, 'cause I can't have needle-sharp metal constantly sticking into my tongue. Ouch!
Is It Always Something?

The cleats on my bands are flattened down, but there is still one I have to gob some wax on that one every now and then. Try drying the tooth off first sometimes that helps me. And then bite down a little on the wax gob as you mold it on there...also try to smooth it out to the shape of your tooth...
Seems like we are in the same boat...one problem after another...but hang in there. I'm sure it will get better...Hope you get that taken care of... Good Luck

Thanks for the comments and sympathy! It does help to deal with the pain when I know I'm not out of my mind, but these things do indeed happen with braces. I keep telling myself that, at the very least, the pain will be over in twelve months.
On the bright side...I lost three pounds last week from only eating soup and yogurt. Probably not the most nutritious diet, but just for one week.... (Although if they can't file down whatever is poking me--cleats or just a rough spot, it may be for longer than that.)
