Hi

#1 Post by Gemz »

Hey, I'm a newbie here so I thought I'd introduce myself

I'm Gem or Gemz, from the UK, I'm 19 and currently a student and working part-time

I had a fixed brace put on my bottom teeth in March 2006, the top went on around October I think and will be having orthognathic surgery at some point (hopefully over the summer) but it all depends on a very stubborn front tooth untwisting and sitting correctly.
I also had my bottom wisdom teeth extracted which wasn't too bad actually, I expected worse. But I did find I had a horrid reaction to the antibiotics, dicoloflex(sp)? Anyone else had that one?

So glad to have found somewhere on the web to discuss this without being talked down to (kid with braces :? ) or perved on

Just thought I'd do a little update.

I have an appointment set for the 21st June and hopefully, if my front tooth is straight enough - moulds will be taken for surgery.

I still can't get a date out of my orthodontist but he says I should be fine by the end of Sep (for uni) so I guess it can't be too far away.

I also found how who my surgeon will be, and he's one of the most sought after in the UK, which definitely puts my mind at rest a bit.

Will try and find some pre-braced pictures, but as I always hide my teeth that could prove difficult! But will have some of current situation soon

Well I had my appointment and the teeth are in the right position :D

I now have some lovely industrial strength thick wires, which look even worse than the regular ones  But they are the ones which will stay on during the op so it's a step onwards.

My next appointment is on 26th July with the orthodontist to take final moulds and my surgeon to discuss dates :!: :D

It's getting there. Still can't find any pictures, will take one of current situation tomorrow but it'll be camera phone quality I'm afraid.

I also ordered a new camera yesterday so will be able to take my pics soon :) Can't wait to compare after

I had my brace adjusted and some pieces added today because I finally have my surgery date :D

22nd August

The surgeon wanted to fit it around uni and started mentioning dates in December I was  so he said well, summer doesn't give you much time to prepare. So I said I was definitely ready and we set the date at the 22nd
