Round teeth?

#1 Post by NishaGh1 »

Hey y'all! I'm 20 and I've had braces on for about 2 months now. I want my teeth to look perfectly even, but I'm afraid that they won't even after the braces. I have teeth that are rounded at the bottom, not square and I'm afraid the sides of my canines aren't as long as the sides on the rest of my teeth. Has anyone else had that problem?

Are you saying that you want to have all of your teeth the same rectangular shape and all the same length?

If that's the case, almost nobody gets that naturally.

Look at my teeth below. I have rounded incisors and pointy canines. Do yours look like that?

Do you have pix? That might help.

If your teeth are triangular shaped then IPR, as Karen said, can help to bring them together, but I'm not sure that's what you're saying.

Yes, actually Jennie, you're right. I was actually talking about have teeth that are rounded, not triangular. I want that rectangular shape. I don't mind the canines being pointy...I just want them brought down. I'm afraid there's going to be this space between my canines and the lateral incisor next to it because it's so far above the rest. It's already been brought down significantly, but that doesn't seem to help.

Maybe there's some rotation involved and it will be okay in a little more time. IPR would't probably not be of help in the situation that you have described.

There is also the option to have bonding done to change the shape of your teeth, but I would serously talk to your ortho about this now, as the treatment will have to be adjusted to allow for this.

Hopefully your treatment will fix this problem for you. My laterals were very high before I got braces and my treatment brought them all the wy down. Hopefully you just need a little more time to see the results you are hoping for.

Good luck to you!

Did you wear rubberbands? I have them on, but the changes they've made seemed to have plateaued. Ugh!

ya, I had rubberbands. I had them to correct an overbite though, not to pull teeth down.

After while I stopped feeling them working, but I guess they still were as the bite continued to come back.

I hope that yours are working though you're not seeing the changes. Perhaps your ortho will put you in stronger or smaller elastics next time??

I sure hope you start seeing the changes you want!
