Janice from Toronto

#1 Post by jbond007 »

I am 34 years old and started wearing braces in June 2003. I have ceramics on top and metal on bottom. I have been a silent observer on this website for quite some time and appreciate how much support I have gotten just reading about others' experiences.

I have also been wearing hipull headgear at night and elastics 24/7 for about the last year. I hope (and pray) to be done with the headgear soon and expect to wear the elastics through the end of my treatment which is expected to be June 2005.

I have been in and out of power chains on several occasions and am happy to not have them now. I am very happy that I decided to go through treatment. My teeth look so much better already, I can't wait to see the end result.

Hey there neighbour! I live pretty close to Toronto myself (close enough for comfort anyways  ). It's such a big, busy city!

I'm glad you started posting. You're right about this being a great place for support.

I don't know a thing about headgear but I can see why you'd be anxious to be done with it! As for powerchains, I've never had those yet either but I'm sure my time will come.

headgear

#4 Post by jbond007 »

The thought of having to wear headgear kept me from getting braces for many years. I was very anxious every time I went ot the ortho, not knowing when he was going to spring it on me. When the day finally came, I was extremely nervous. I hated how it looked, I hated how it felt, I was even embarassed to wear it even around the house. As time went by, sleepingbecame easier and I have no problem wearing it at home any more. It has been the most challenging part of my treatment so far but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I will still be very glad the day I come home and don't have to put it on.
