23, getting braced next Tuesday!

#1 Post by JenMarie286 »

Hi! I'm 23 and getting braces for the first time next Tuesdy. It'll be 2 weeks between getting impressions and x-rays done and getting the braces put on.

I'll be getting top and bottom on at the same time, along with a bite turbo. I'm getting In-Ovation C on top and I'm assuming the In-Ovation R on the bottom (they didn't say, but it's supposed to be the same kind of system as th top). I've been putting off getting them for 2 and a half years. I was going to go with metal (my ortho uses damon), but my vanity caught up with me and decided to go with ceramic. After looking at a lot of pictures of the In-Ovation C's and even youtube videos of people who have them, I'm really excited about being braced!

I'm getting braces to correct what my ortho called a "deep bite". When smiling, my top teeth pretty much cover my bottom teeth. I also have some crowding and a cross bite. I will probably post pictures of before and "after" next week after I get them on.

Yay, congrats! It's exciting that you will be starting your treatment in less than a week!!! Hehe. I am also 23 with braces for the first time and I also have the In-Ovation C (both on top and bottom). I started out with different brackets back in March 08 and then moved and got a new ortho who put on the In-Ovation C brackets instead in August 08. I really like them and have never had a problem with anything breaking even if I eat pretty crunchy food :) You can check out the pics in my braces story if you want to see me in them - just scroll past the first set of pics bc those are the other braces I had...

Do you have to have any extractions? How long is your estimate for treatment? Did you have to get spacers? I never had them because my ortho just used regular brackets on all my teeth, no molar bands, but I hear they are no fun

Well thanks for posting and I hope your appointment on Tuesday goes really well :D

I didn't have to have any extractions, fortunately. I didn't have to get spacers either. My estimated treatment time is around 18 months. He said it would be closer to a year if I had decided to go with the damons. I don't know why, but he said the damons were faster.

I've gotten more excited once I found out for sure which brand I was getting.

I checked out your story and I wanted to say thanks for posting pics. It really helps to get an idea of what to expect. Your progress is great! Thanks for the welcome!

That's a pretty sweet deal - no extractions or spacers will be nice. That's weird about what he said regarding damons being faster... I've never heard of that before. Glad my pics were useful for you :) I was also given 18 months to begin with but it was shortened by several months when I switched orthos and got the In-Ovations. Should be off in April or May I think *crosses fingers*, which would be about 13 or 14 months total.

I am officially braced! It's really weird. I'll post pics once my camera is charged.

Hi again :) Hope your first week in braces was good (as good as it can be, haha). Can't wait to see some pics! I just had an adjustment this week and boy am I sore! My ortho extended my treatment time - was supposed to only be 1 more month but he said its at least 10-12 weeks still :( Oh well nothing I can do. Just means I get to stick around here for a while longer :)

I still haven't gotten around to taking any pics yet!

My first month wasn't so bad for the most part. The past couple of days have been terrible, though! My entire mouth is sore, mostly because I've been sleeping on my stomach, which sort of forces the brackets into the sides of my mouth, ouch!

My first adjustment is next Tuesday, so I'll try to take some pics before then! I'm looking forward to it, I haven't had too much progress. My bottom wire has popped out 3 times, so I'm hoping that I'll have a stronger one that won't bend as much, too.
